General summary

Directs all aspects of the Western Regional Area Health Education Center at Western Michigan University.

Major duties

  • Directs all aspects of the Western Regional Area Health Education Center, including finances, programs, community relations, marketing, communications and personnel.
  • Develops and monitors reports on annual state work plans. Ensures compliance with state agency.
  • Represents the center through contact with professional organizations, the community, business leaders and healthcare constituencies. Serves on the Michigan Area Health Education Center advisory council and other committees required by contracts and agreements.
  • Leads the community advisory board.
  • Hires, trains and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
