General summary

Manages business intelligence and operational activities for the department.

Major duties

  • Designs, executes, and oversees statistical and predictive modeling projects of operational and long-term strategic value to the University.
  • Establishes and maintains business intelligence programming and reporting standards for the department.
  • Communicates findings to the University via formal reports and presentations.
  • Oversees and contributes to collection and reporting of data for state and federal reporting and surveys.
  • Researches trends and best practices in business intelligence and data science to maintain superior technology, customer service, and research standards.
  • Interprets and applies state, federal, and University regulations and policies.
  • Assists the director with short- and long-term planning for the unit.
  • Hires, trains, and evaluates performance of department staff.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.

Required experience

  • Three years’ relevant experience
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with business intelligence.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with report development for decision support.
  • Experience using complex relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Experience developing data models.
  • Experience with relational database management systems for data definition and data manipulation.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoor or any number of elements.
