General summary

Oversees, advises and trains students in the Student Media group and other student engagement programs.

Major duties

  • Communicates with and advises students with regards to student engagement, especially student media. Develops, coordinates and participates in developmental and training meetings and retreats.
  • Collaborates with the student media board to develop strategic plans, manage the student budget and evaluate programs and services.
  • Maintains computers, technology, equipment and furniture for the student media areas. Coordinates office access for student staff and assists with maintaining office security.
  • Develops evaluation processes for programs and services. Creates and evaluates student learning outcomes and student media impact and success.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with strategic partners on and off campus, including student groups, faculty, staff, departments and alumni.
  • Coordinates and supports programs. Remains current on relevant legal, ethical and procedural issues pertaining to student media. Develops business policies and policy and ethics manuals.
  • Assists with fundraising, advertising & underwriting sales, purchasing & receiving. Monitors expenditure/revenue transactions, accounting, and record-keeping.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
