General summary

Designs strategies to build and maintain strong partnerships with corporate recruiters and hiring managers.

Major duties

  • Provides employers with information regarding the services offered by the career center, including guidelines on internship development and campus recruitment practices. Provides feedback to employers on job description content and marketing strategies.
  • Utilizes customer service skills to support the needs of external partners. Utilizes networking skills to support programming and events hosted by the University’s career center.
  • May participate in department advisory board meetings to maintain and build new relationships with employers. Supports faculty in coordinating annual conferences for the department.
  • Develops and implements recruiting and preparatory events, including career fairs and professional development events. Collaborates with faculty and administration to identify recruitment needs. Manages event details, including but not limited to marketing and volunteer assignments.
  • Generates revenue for the department through employer partnerships. Maintains employer contact management database.
  • Promotes job postings to appropriate student candidates. Conducts surveys regarding employer satisfaction. Promotes events through University websites to improve student access.
  • May attend relevant conferences and webinars. Follows new product development rollouts.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency using and querying databases.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Ability to travel throughout Michigan.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
