General summary
Directs the development, installation and maintenance of infrastructure and network systems supporting the University’s information technology resources.
Major duties
- Evaluates the University’s intermediate and long range information technology needs and develops plans to implement, maintain or upgrade voice, data and video network and communication infrastructure systems.
- Establishes, documents and promotes standards and procedures for network development, deployment, expansion and maintenance.
- Selects and manages software vendors and consultants.
- Develops and manages project and department budgets.
- Monitors performance of network and communication systems and develops plans to ensure system reliability and data confidentiality.
- Provides technical expertise in project planning and implementation.
- Ensures infrastructure hardware and software complies with University requirements and professional standards.
- Participates in information technology strategic planning activities.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of staff.

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.
Required experience
- Eight years’ relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing and documenting policies and procedures.
- Budget management experience.
- Vendor management experience.
- Knowledge of security and privacy regulations.

- Relevant industry certification.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
