General summary

Designs, tests, installs, and maintains applications and related interfaces supporting the University’s email systems.

Major duties

  • Architects, plans, designs, develops, implements, maintains, upgrades, and manages projects for all supported systems, services, applications, and other related mission-critical enterprise and cloud systems. Conforms to industry best practices for security, performance, redundancy, reliability, and disaster recovery.
  • Monitors, investigates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, network, and integration problems and issues for all supported systems, applications, and services.
  • Serves as the senior collaboration and cloud administrator for multiple platforms and systems. Serve as a senior administrator and technical consultant for University-supported systems.
  • Plans, designs, develops, maintains, and manages projects for all supported systems, services, and applications. Develops software solutions using multiple tools, programming languages, databases, and operating systems while conforming to industry best practices.
  • Designs and monitors the status, performance, and security of supported systems and services. Ensures compliance with security policies and procedures. Implement industry-standard security measures, in compliance with industry best practices. Remediate any problems that occur.
  • Maintains and develops personal and professional status through participation in University committees and groups as well as industry working groups.
  • Provides necessary training and documentation to the department and University community.
  • Researches and evaluates new and next-generation technologies to improve the security, reliability, performance, usability, and recoverability of the University’s technology environment.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.

Required experience

  • Three years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience maintaining system documentation.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing user privacy.

Required other

  • Must be available to provide system maintenance or end-user support outside of normal business hours.

  • Project planning experience.

  • Relevant industry certification.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
