General summary

Ensures accurate and timely processing and distribution of University payroll. Assists in the administration and reconciliation of the purchasing card and travel service programs for the University.

Major duties

  • Performs various functions of the payroll process using the timekeeping and human resources information systems to process and produce timely and accurate compensation for all university employees.
  • Participates in payroll-related system upgrade testing and projects. Completes other special functions, such as issuing retro and special checks, preparing vouchers and remittances, and processing stop payments.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints and questions regarding taxes, withholdings, deductions, pay changes, pay rates, and hours worked. Provides system support for timekeepers and supervisors.
  • Processes retirement systems interface file uploads and reconciles and researches all exceptions. Collaborates with internal partners to resolve problems and ensures payment is processed according to the defined schedules.
  • Audits user account licenses and signoff procedures to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Performs various functions of accounts payable including voucher processing, vendor setup, employee reimbursements and bank reconciliation. Supports annual audit processes.
  • May administer the procurement card and travel-related functions utilizing related system applications to generate reports. May provide technical support and training for system applications.
  • May maintain the department’s website.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Associate's degree or two years' college coursework in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Payroll operations in automated timekeeping system.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
