General summary
Oversees the coordination and advancement of on and off-campus pre-college programming throughout the University community. Promotes college access and enrollment through intentional, meaningful, and engaging outreach, education, and training experiences.
Major duties
- Provides strategic leadership for pre college programs. Oversees minors on campus policies and compliance in collaboration with legal and administrative leaders. Serves as principal investigator for grant funded initiatives supporting sustained youth engagement.
- Leads grant funded programs and prepares grant proposals to secure continued funding and ensures full compliance with all reporting and documentation requirements. Manages program budgets and provides fiscal oversight across multiple funding streams to ensure accurate reporting and responsible stewardship.
- Provides operational oversight for pre college programs by coordinating major outreach events, supporting campuswide youth initiatives, and fostering cross unit collaboration.
- Monitors youth related regulations, communicates updates, and promotes compliance. Collaborates with legal and risk management on policy updates and oversees operational activities for grant funded projects.
- Identifies opportunities to expand pre college programming by recommending new initiatives and collaboration. Reviews existing youth outreach activities to promote collaboration and maximize resources.
- Conducts research and evaluation by securing external funding, collecting, and analyzing program data, and assessing service impact. Oversees evaluation for grant funded initiatives.
- Supports faculty and staff engaged in youth initiatives and represents the unit on institution wide committees related to pre college and outreach activities.
- Maintains strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local stakeholders. Participates in meetings, committees, and community events to strengthen collaboration and expand program opportunities.
- Develops and implements training related to minors on campus and stays informed about applicable regulations to ensure program compliance. Communicates training requirements to stakeholders and promotes participation by supporting accessible and trackable training options.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in communicating effectively with a diverse range of constituencies including staff, faculty, and pre-college students and families.
- Experience working with first-generation and low-income students.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
