General summary
Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and institutional student financial aid programs. Provides guidance and direction in areas that affect systems, operations, processes, and regulations about student aid.
Major duties
- Monitors regulatory and administrative requirements for federal student aid programs. Identifies regulatory changes and systematic problems. Briefs the University of recently adopted regulations concerning federal student aid and state aid programs. Proposes solutions, including plans, recommendations, and timetables for effectively implementing changes appropriately about compliance and administrative effectiveness for the University.
- Develops and maintains the financial aid policies and procedures manual. Communicate changes to financial aid staff to ensure regulatory and administrative requirements for federal student aid programs are met. Provides guidance on return of funds policies.
- Monitors and oversees all federal verification and free applications for federal student aid review flag processes to ensure they are updated annually in compliance with yearly verification updates and new regulations. Supports the systems team in yearly software updates and testing to properly administer financial aid according to regulatory requirements.
- Performs random quality assurance testing on the processing and compliance of financial aid files and reviews findings. May conduct training or update procedures as a result of the testing.
- Manages the student financial aid training program.
- Serves as program lead for multiple student financial aid programs. Prepares various student financial aid reports and responds to information requests.
- Participates in research, data analysis, and coordination for annual financial aid audits.
- May serve as the lead representative during audit reviews and assist in post-audit responses.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, compliance and training.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and guidelines governing Title IV aid programs.
- Demonstrated experience in project management.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, use technology effectively and work independently.
- Strong desire to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
