General summary
Provides coordination for fieldwork, admissions and student services for the School of Social Work.
Major duties
- Establishes and maintains fieldwork placement sites that meet accreditation criteria for Social Work students. Builds and maintains relationships with health and human services provides, agencies and organizations.
- Coordinates field education applications from students. Secures and assigns field placements for students in a timely manner. Manages software applications and databases to monitor each student’s fieldwork placement from application to fieldwork completion.
- Advises students on department academic curricular requirements.
- Troubleshoots concerns and issues of fieldwork stakeholders. Coordinates with other field coordinators, the director of field education and the field committee to update, maintain and implement policies consistent with best practices in the School of Social Work and accreditation standards.
- May teach fieldwork seminars to integrate curriculum with fieldwork experience.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises field organizations and instructors. Trains students in fieldwork standards. Trains fieldwork instructors and University social work faculty on fieldwork instructors.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
