General summary

Manages projects related to the Geosciences department, including Michigan Geological Survey, Core Kids and Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education.

Major duties

  • Manages and evaluates program initiatives, including data analysis and monitoring performance of existing and new programs.
  • Plans and administers logistics for hiring workshops, hydro field camp, advisory board meetings and other outreach activities.
  • Manages outreach activities of the department. Initiates and participates in recruitment activities of existing and new programs.
  • Provides financial management of assigned projects, including development of budgetary reports, forecasts and recommendations.
  • Supervises administrative staff. Oversees workflow and direction. Resolves personnel and operational issues.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.

Required other

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
