General summary

Develops and implements influencing communication strategies in order to increase awareness and support for the University’s programs and services.

Major duties

  • Assesses community needs, defines opportunities and develops relationship building strategies. Plans for implementation of collaborative community-based programs, partnerships and other engagement initiatives in order to maximize regional community resources.
  • Identifies, builds and maintains relationships with the University community and other external stakeholders in order to enhance competitiveness, leverage existing resources and create new resources. Interfaces with University-wide efforts toward public outreach and engagement.
  • Directs community engagement efforts, including strategy development, implementation and supervision in order to ensure alignment of external community needs with internal strategic plans.
  • Develops and maintains tracking and monitoring mechanisms for internal and external evaluation of community engagement initiatives. Builds and maintains a partnership knowledge base that documents ongoing partnership projects and measures of success and impacts.
  • Engages in department initiatives and efforts as a member of the program leadership team. Offers suggestions for improvement and growth.
  • Oversees community engagement budget.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Required other

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state. Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
