General summary

Oversees and directs the daily operations of the Sanford Center for Financial Planning and Wellness.

Major duties

  • Oversees daily operations of the Sanford Center, including directing and administering programs, projects and processes. Implements strategic plans in collaboration with leadership staff.
  • Organizes and supervises on-site financial counseling.
  • Coordinates the design and implementation of community outreach events, including conferences for academics and financial advisors. Organizes and supervises events.
  • Prepares and analyzes budget reports. Monitors, reconciles, forecasts and recommends budget allocations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with the financial advising industry.
  • Establishes, implements and evaluates policies and procedures for financial counseling. Interprets policies and procedures for customers and responds to inquiries.
  • Collaborates with leadership staff in order to provide appropriate, curriculum-driven placement for students. Contributes to research, personal finance support and community collaborations.
  • Assists with program outreach and recruitment.
  • Maintains content on the center’s website.
  • Coordinates student employee hiring, scheduling, training and payroll.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Advanced office software skills, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency using and querying databases.
  • Experience monitoring and reconciling budgets.
  • Experience providing guidance to students or other employees.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Required other

  • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) within 18 months of hire.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings.

Desired qualifications

Desired other

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) within 18 months of hire.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
