General summary

Designs, engineers, programs and deploys the University’s audiovisual systems and applications.

Major duties

  • Establishes and oversees the development of complex control system source code, including modules utilizing current and future development environments.
  • Designs and engineers complex audiovisual systems including architectural requirements, system wiring diagrams, and rack evaluations.
  • Manages audiovisual projects from initial planning to completion.
  • Manages multiple web and database servers critical to the function of audiovisual systems.
  • Develops and monitors audiovisual system configuration standards. Develops and implements lifecycle plan and budget.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements and policy changes that ensure services and standards comply with internal policies and industry standards across both technical and functional areas.
  • Collaborates with vendors to establish and maintain good working relationships. Resolves problems as necessary.
  • Provides work direction to technicians and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project planning or project management experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
