General summary

Processes student application materials and facilitates admissions decisions. Communicates with applicants and current students throughout the application and admissions process.

Major duties

  • Manages graduate application process ensuring that applications are correctly reviewed and routed to next level. Assesses transcripts and education history contacting departments, students or institutions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensures conformity with the University requirements for all applications to maintain institutional academic integrity. Researches information across various systems within departments to determine appropriate actions. Supports mission of the University by providing timely responses for graduate applications.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers on application policies, procedures and decisions. Edits admissions communication including letters, marketing materials, catalog entries and web content.
  • Responds to calls, email inquiries and meets with prospective students.
  • Analyses and updates information in various database systems.
  • Trains staff and faculty advisors on proper procedures for recruitment, applications and decisions of accelerated degree programs. Provides ongoing support to departments and applicants.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required experience

  • One year’s relevant experience.
  • Experience with relational databases, including data entry.
  • Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
