General summary
Manages computer interface liaising and troubleshooting with the University's Information Technology experts. Serves in the capacity of designated school official and alternate responsible officer to give immigration advice to students.
Major duties
- Advises international students with requests, regulations, and legal implications in compliance with federal law.
- Evaluates and prepares student applications for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- Manages records and daily operations of the student and exchange visitor information system.
- Compiles data and prepares reports to give to the Department of Homeland Security while ensuring compliance with federal and state law.
- Manages interface between the student information system, the international scholar and student management, and the student and exchange visitor program.
- Issues admission forms in the system for federal compliance. Troubleshoots and resolves datalink problems. Refers complex programming problems to information technology. Provides analysis, feedback, and testing with the information technology specialist.
- Provides direction and guidance to immigration and international admissions' staff regarding record keeping systems and computer programs while liaising with international admissions.
- Develops, creates, edits, and maintains Immigration Services website in compliance with University standards.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Associate's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Experience with Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.
Required other
- Must be a United States Person.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
