General summary

Manages the Success at WMU student success initiative, providing high-level direction and operational support.

Major duties

  • Directs operations of student success initiatives by using data to drive decision-making. Implements and executes policies and projects.
  • Develops and monitors program budget, including cost-sharing and matching.
  • Ensures the program remains in compliance with University policies and aligns with University strategic goals.
  • Operates as a change agent and campus liaison with regard to student success initiatives. Facilitates collaboration between units, divisions and employee groups.
  • Leads project teams from across the University in planning, creating and implementing University initiatives, including student success initiatives. Gathers data, seeks external collaborators, investigates innovative practices in higher education and presents multiple pathways of project implementation.
  • Supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three year’s relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
