General summary
Models complex research problems, discovers patterns and solutions hidden in large data sets and works with stakeholders to improve business outcomes through the use of advanced data analytics techniques.
Major duties
- Proposes, scopes, designs and conducts major analytic projects to further the strategic and tactical goals of the University.
- Provides actionable insights into complex institutional problems.
- Works as an effective member of the institutional research team to advance data-driven decision making.
- Presents information using data visualization techniques.
- Works with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong background in applied statistics and computational methods.
- Ability to understand and adapt to large and imperfect datasets.
- Advanced SQL skills.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts.
- Familiarity with data science tools.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
