Payroll and Disbursements Analyst

General summary

Performs functional system support related to payroll and accounts payable processes. Serves as the functional liaison between the University and information technology areas.

Major duties

  • Manages electronic workflow processes, general ledger system processes, and related updates. Administers the authorization and security processes, audits, database management, and process improvements.
  • Serves as the liaison between information technology, the campus community, and the payroll and disbursement department for system upgrades, system maintenance, reports, and database-related enhancements. Resolves issues and ensures data integrity for both the financial and payroll databases and external travel database and workflow processes.
  • Conducts end-user testing for system upgrades. Assists in the development of procedure updates and the creation of campus job aides.
  • Assists with special projects and policy updates. Maintains departmental web pages to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to the campus community.
  • Assists with monthly and annual general ledger reconciliation for payroll and disbursement functions.
  • Serves as backup to payroll and accounts payable functions as required and provides customer support to all departmental customers internally and externally utilizing department policies for responses.
  • Assists with federal and state filings and annual tax form processing and reconciliation.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in payroll, time and attendance collection and accounts payable.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
