General summary

Responsible for the leadership and management of cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives for the marketing and strategic communications division.

Major duties

  • Develops and maintains detailed work plans, project schedules, quality assurance plans, and reports to ensure timely completion of projects. Participates in and facilitate project meetings.
  • Coordinates communication between marketing and creative, digital strategy and editorial teams.
  • Manages and nurtures relationships between University units, stakeholders and the marketing and strategic communications division, working to determine deliverables, timelines and manage partner expectations.
  • Analyzes and manages resources and risks. Mitigates project risks. Ensures that team members have the time and bandwidth to complete projects within defined timelines.
  • Facilitates project team development through oversight and coordination, monitoring workload and well-being.
  • Manages and assigns incoming project requests in coordination with division directors.
  • Interfaces with external vendors, partners, software partners and on and off campus advertising outlets.
  • Develops and implements best-practice processes for project intake and workflows in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Accepts constructive critique when given and quickly adapts approaches.
  • Advances a new organizational culture by demonstrating mission-focus, goal-orientation and a collaborative spirit in the discharge of duties.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.

Required other

  • Experience with responsibilities requiring confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, prioritization, troubleshooting, and working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience designing and implementing processes to ensure quality and repeatable project management.
  • A proficient understanding of traditional and digital marketing and communications trends, best practices and standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to create and maintain effective relationships as well as collaborate and motivate at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email and calendar software applications.
  • Experience with project management software.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
