General summary

Operates, configures and maintains information technology infrastructure in order to support enterprise research applications.

Major duties

  • Operates and maintains managed systems.
  • Monitors system and network performance. Investigates and resolves problems affecting system performance.
  • Installs and maintains hardware, firmware, and operating systems. Configures hardware to virtual resources of the equipment.
  • Installs, operates and maintains software as required for the monitoring and functioning of managed systems.
  • Implements and maintains backup and disaster recovery for managed systems. Generates and maintains documentation for managed systems.
  • Plans for future upgrades of hardware and software for managed systems including addressing growth trends.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.

Required experience

  • Three years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience installing and maintaining hardware and software.
  • Experience maintaining system documentation.
  • Experience working on cross-functional information technology teams.
  • Programming experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
