General summary
Manages the overall day-to-day facility maintenance and operation of WMU-Grand Rapids.
Major duties
- Ensures daily operation and custodial standards are met by monitoring work and service quality.Provides feedback and suggestions regarding operational policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains relationships with on-site staff and faculty by serving as the first point of contact during business hours for University stakeholders and for communicating project status to stakeholders.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for WMU-Grand Rapids. Ensures staff and guests are aware of and trained in safety policies and procedures.
- Manages campus key and card access.
- Prioritizes maintenance and repair needs by directing work completed by staff, vendors or outside contractors. Conducts vendor research and monitors vendor contracts.
- Inspects buildings, equipment, and grounds area to identify necessary repairs and maintenance. Monitors safety and security of buildings and equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations requiring custodial and repair services.
- Supervises event setup and teardown.
- Oversees building safety and emergency responses. Schedules compliance certifications as required by the city and state.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Some college coursework from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One years' relevant experience.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays. Occasional on call duty.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
