General summary

Directs, plans and administers the Libraries’ web applications development to support functional, operational, and service needs.

Major duties

  • Leads the analysis, development, deployment, and ongoing management of the library repository system.
  • Serves as a contributing partner and subject matter expert with statewide efforts to develop and manage a portal for cultural legacy and educational objects.
  • Manages the libraries web application portfolio and all phases of the web application software development life cycle, including new development and maintenance and enhancement of existing applications.
  • Recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and off-the-shelf alternatives.
  • Writes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and enhances source code to ensure user interfaces and applications meet the needs of users.
  • Serves as a technical resource during the implementations and maintenance of third-party web solutions. Keeps abreast of current and emerging trends and issues in web applications development as related to academic libraries.
  • Works both independently and in team settings to create and foster an iterative, data-informed, and test-driven development process. Maintains a close working relationship with a wide range of library stakeholders and participates in emerging digital humanities and cultural legacy work.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in web applications development, integration, administration, and support.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated programming skills in a modern language.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
