General summary
Manages the University news site and other communication channels in order to disseminate content that engages and informs internal and external audiences.
Major duties
- Manages, creates, posts, and edits content for communication channels in a way that builds consistency of messages.
- Guides content creators in conceptualizing compelling stories and accompanying visuals that exemplify and elevate the University’s brand messages.
- Collaborates; organizes, and serves on steering committees responsible for managing work groups, transforming University culture, and elevating student success.
- Directs other communication projects as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to think both analytically and creatively, and from the perspective of the target audience.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong news writing skills and ability to adhere to Associated Press writing style.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

- Experience in volunteer management or constituent relations.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
