General summary
Develops, implements, and manages the Peer2Peer eMentor program for all undergraduate students including new beginner, transfer, and international students. Also manages the summer Peer2Peer Bridge for incoming students. Represents the department to promote student support programs at University events.
Major duties
- Coordinates recruitment and interview process student leaders. Leads staff meetings, trainings and ongoing professional development workshops for peer mentors. Identifies and resolves personnel and operational issues.
- Oversees the implementation of mentorship programs. Leverages software for communication and analytics to determine strategic growth plan for maximum impact.
- Creates and maintains processes and systems for the mentoring program. Collects, analyzes, and formalizes data reports.
- Writes learning outcomes annually. Collaborates with other staff to evaluate and assess program outcomes.
- Collaborates with campus offices to build and maintain partnerships to enhance student success. Generates campus support with mentoring and student success messaging efforts. Educates campus stakeholders about mentor programs.
- Implements annual communication plan, using data driven decision making, that encompasses multiple avenues for communication, including social media, texting, video, email and emerging communication technology.
- Collaborates with department staff on student success programs and initiatives.
- Serves as support staff and department representative during New Student Orientation and University events.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions autonomously.
- Ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.
- Knowledge of student development.
- Experience in crisis intervention, conflict management, program development, and social media.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
