General summary
Manages the athletic fund and fundraising volunteers that solicit and steward donors to the Universities athletic programs and individual sports.
Major duties
- Develops and leads strategy for the athletic fund board and committees. Schedules meetings, provides training in cultivation and solicitation, and inspiring and overseeing volunteer performance.
- Develops and leads strategy for general athletics and sport-specific fundraising campaigns. Works closely with colleagues from multiple departments to ensure strategic communication through print, electronic and event-based communications.
- Recruits new athletics fund volunteers. Provides high-level training upon orientation and on-going.
- Develops volunteer job descriptions, volunteer leadership structure and volunteer policies for athletics donor solicitation and cultivation.
- Administers new benefits levels for athletics program donors.
- Identifies high level donor prospects among athletics fund donors and volunteers.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a development or alumni relations capacity with direct interaction with donors.
- Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association division one athletics.
- Ability to work independently.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
