General summary

Directs all Alumni Association, WMU Foundation, and Paper Technology Foundation gift processing, business operations, institutional audits and disbursement of funds acquired from fundraising.

Major duties

  • Monitors department finance to ensure appropriate resource allocation. Manages organizational cash flow and forecasting.
  • Oversees all financial, project, program and grants accounting. Analyzes and presents financial reports, communicates monthly and annual financial statements, collates financial reporting materials for donor segments.
  • Reports and monitors foundation endowment investments for the purposes of budgeting, accreditation, and university-wide source of funds.
  • Manages fiscal aspects of contracts, budgets and negotiated agreements.
  • Leads the annual audit process. Coordinates with external auditors and committees.
  • Updates and implements business policies and accounting practices along with the policy and procedure manual.
  • Oversees and lead annual budgeting and planning process. Administers, reviews and monitors progress of all financial plans and budgets.
  • Oversees the accounting and allocation of all gifts and pledges to the foundations.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Budget management experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds. 

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
