General summary
Directs and leads the implementation of public radio station fundraising activities including membership, major giving, underwriting, and on-air fundraising. Provides direction on station development and promotes effective strategies to increase overall direct revenues.
Major duties
- Plans, implements, and manages all strategies for membership, major giving and underwriting. Secures individual, corporate and foundation funding for station operations.
- Monitors nationwide development and marketing trends and maintains industry contacts. Communicates development goals to staff.
- Initiates and oversees fundraising goals and efforts through a public media audience. Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with donors.
- Compiles data to analyze effectiveness of development goals. Researches, analyzes, and determines feasibility to implement new strategies.
- Develops strategies for membership acquisition and renewal via fundraising and membership campaigns. Collaborates with staff to help coordinate year-round campaign specific duties and events.
- Ensures accurate tracking mechanisms for membership activity through customer relationship management systems. Formulates policies for collecting and safeguarding contributions.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Budget management experience.
- Proven ability to work well as a contributing team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork and communication.
- Experience in fundraising.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with an attention to accuracy.
Required other
- Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
