General summary
Manages projects related to the Psychology department, including WMU Kalamazoo Autism Center, Autism Services Center, and multiple complex grants.
Major duties
- Manages and evaluates program initiatives, including data analysis and monitoring performance and compliance of existing and new programs.
- Provides financial management of assigned projects, including development of budgetary reports, forecasts and recommendations.
- Manages the graduate appointment process for the department.
- Obtains event authorizations and secures facilities for events.
- Oversees workflow and direction. Resolves personnel and operational issues.
- Hires, trains and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions autonomously, problem solve and react to complex and emergent situations.
- Budget management experience, including administration and forecasting.
- Strong project management experience.
- Familiarity with WMU policies and procedures including those related to human resources, independent contractors, contract review, affiliation agreements, purchasing, minors on campus, and accident/injury reporting.
- Familiarity with WMU collective bargaining agreements covering faculty, part-time instructors and teaching assistants.
Required other
- Notary Public, or ability to become one upon hire.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
