General summary

Assists in the development and implementation of Medieval Institute programs.

Major duties

  • Plans and schedules the annual International Congress on Medieval Studies. Participates in the design and production of the Congress program, including the production of print and web-based materials and database management.
  • Teaches graduate level courses in medieval studies. Advises graduate students.
  • Conducts research on materials in the collection of the Richard Rawlinson Center for Anglo-Saxon Studies and Manuscript Research. Researches and maintains a profile in medieval studies.
  • Provides direction for staff and student employees.
  • Conducts original research in medieval studies and publishes scholarly articles and books.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Doctoral degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
