General summary
Develop, coordinate, and implement transition and outreach services for students who have experienced foster care for some or all of their teenage years.
Major duties
- Collaborates with the scholarship program team team and students to build social and career networks that will endure beyond graduation.
- Supports, coaches and advises students with post-graduation planning and transition. Performs periodic assessments and monitors progress. Promotes personal and academic success and well-being of students in their transition to adulthood.
- Coordinates and facilitates graduation preparation seminars.
- Conducts individual transition planning meetings with students or graduates.
- Plans and implements opportunities for career development, professional development and advanced education.
- Prepares and maintains target goals. Prepares evaluative reports and recommends improvements to program operations.
- Builds and maintains community and career resource databases to support student transition after graduation. Develop innovative strategies to connect students and graduates to available resources.
- Establishes working relationships among the University and external agencies to develop enduring social and professional connections and continuous support beyond graduation.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience with the foster care system.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
