General summary

Manages clinical experiences for the urban teacher residency program.

Major duties

  • Coaches pre-services teachers through the one-year residency program. Visits and observes program participants in the classroom. Provides support, feedback and recommended actions.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with public schools participating in the urban teacher residency program. Serves as a liaison between the University and school districts, providing administrative support as necessary.
  • Works with site coordinators to provide induction support for program participants. Tracks all placements for the program. Registers and clears candidates for the program. Communicates concerns with program director.
  • Assists with the clinical experience application processes through the comprehensive data management system. Provides statistical and analytical reports.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five year's relevant experience.
  • Teaching experience in urban schools.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coaching and supporting pre-service or new teachers.
  • Deep understanding of elementary curriculum and instruction.

Desired qualifications

Desired education

  • Doctoral degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Desired experience

  • Leadership experience in urban school districts or community programs.
  • Expertise in culturally responsive teaching.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
