General summary

Oversees daily business affairs for a division of the University. Conducts financial planning and budget oversight of several diverse self-operated, integrated units. Works with constituents across the division to ensure fiscal integrity and appropriate budget management.

Major duties

  • Directs control of board-approved budgets for multiple large self-operated, integrated auxiliary service units.
  • Works with department directors to assess budgetary needs, guides the budgetary process, and makes budgetary recommendations. Reports, and researches significant deviations from approved budgets.
  • Develops short-term and long-term planning models and methodologies. Forecasts financial performance using projection and statistical methodologies.
  • Ensures fiscal integrity of financial operations, transactions, and procedures. Performs month-end closing processes and related entries.
  • Meets monthly and quarterly with directors and department heads of each unit for financial monitoring and reporting. Serves as the lead business contact for the majority of the division’s departments and areas.
  • Provides board regulatory supervision and guidance to budget administrators and directors.
  • Conducts research and collaborates with individual department heads on issues with financial implications. Develops and interprets departmental and University policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates division-wide programs and procedures. Participates on committees at the division and University levels.
  • Manages human resources processes for the division consisting of staff, faculty, and bargaining unit employees. Hires, trains, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
  • Oversees the coordination of departmental processes and procedures such as payroll, reconciliations, and payables.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Required experience

  • Five year’s relevant experience.
  • Experience of technical accounting.
  • Proven critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience working independently.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience with data analytics and financial analysis.
  • Strong office software skills, including word processing and spreadsheets

Desired experience

  • Higher Education accounting and policy development.
  • Significant experience in budgeting and budget coordination in a university setting.
  • Supervisory experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with the minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
