General summary
Provides strategic and operational leadership for teaching and learning platforms and supporting technology infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, security, accessibility, performance, and data-informed decision-making.
Major duties
- Provides strategic and operational leadership for teaching and learning systems.
- Aligns unit priorities, services, and initiatives with organizational goals.
- Collaborates with leadership in developing strategic plans, annual objectives, and measurable outcomes, represents the unit in institutional initiatives, and consults with academic and administrative stakeholders on teaching and learning technologies.
- Collaborates with leadership in overseeing learning management systems and related technologies, including administration, integrations, upgrades, security, performance, and change management. Establishes policies, service standards, workflows, and quality assurance practices that support reliable, accessible, and effective systems and services.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to address technology needs, support instructional priorities, coordinate technical requirements, and advance institution-wide initiatives in a lead capacity.
- Researches, evaluates, and implements emerging technologies and system enhancements to strengthen digital learning environments and respond to evolving needs.
- Provides strategic leadership, supervision, and professional development. Oversees hiring, performance management, mentoring, and staff development while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Leverages analytics, usage data, and stakeholder feedback to establish assessment metrics, evaluate the effectiveness and impact of teaching and learning systems and services, and drive continuous improvement. Documents outcomes to inform decision-making and support ongoing system and service development.
- Oversees unit budgets, resource allocation, technology procurement, vendor relationships, contract renewals, and support escalations, ensuring effective stewardship of resources and sustainable technology operations.
- Oversees purchasing, resource allocation, and procurement activities for teaching and learning technologies and services. Coordinates vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and support requests, ensuring timely issue resolution and sustainable technology operations.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Progressive experience administering information systems.
- Advanced proficiency with learning management systems, including system administration, configuration, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards for educational technology Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG, Section 508).
- Experience implementing technical solutions to ensure digital learning environments meet accessibility requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing data reports and analytics related to learning.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
