General summary

Coordinates the recruitment and yield of undergraduate students from racial and ethnic populations frequently under-represented on U.S. college campuses. This includes developing campus and community partnerships as well as working to ensure the admissions team members effectively engage and serve students of color, their families, school counselors, and others who work with diverse populations.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with admissions leadership to develop, and propose recruitment and yield initiatives and plans to attract and enroll students of various racial and ethnic populations from high schools and community colleges.
  • Works with admissions leadership and team members to promote opportunities and services that appeal to these students. Develops timelines, communication plans, and presentations to ensure opportunities are effectively communicated to targeted populations.
  • Manages a recruitment territory. Serves as the primary university liaison for students, families, and high school counselors from that geographic area. Makes admission decisions and advocates for students from assigned areas. Builds and maintains relationships with college counseling colleagues within assigned geographic areas.
  • Participates on unit and campus committees and work groups, and serves as an admissions liaison to other campus departments and units.
  • Uses the admissions customer relationship management system and other software to run reports. Examines data that will provide insight, opportunities, and direction to initiatives designed to attract these students.
  • Coordinates training of admissions, and college recruitment team members regarding pertinent programs and services to be shared with prospective students and families.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Understanding of college admissions.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents and community members.
  • Proven attention to detail.

Required other

  • Ability to travel in and out of state.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
