General summary

Develops and executes training plans for the office of financial aid, with special focus on compliance training. Uses needs assessments to identify training needs and outcomes, and uses this information to advise department leaders.

Major duties

  • Conducts departmental needs analysis and assessments to identify training needs. Advises department leaders on training needs. Creates and coordinates the delivery of individual and group training and instructional programming. Serves as subject-matter-expert in training best practices and changes in compliance.
  • Develops effective training plans that strengthen staff’s skills. Keeps all training program materials up-to-date by researching training and development trends, and by utilizing current software options. Write and maintain appropriate training manuals.
  • Assists with the development of policies, processes, and procedures used in the delivery of aid to all applicants to meet compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional financial aid rules, regulations and policies.
  • Develops assessment methods to evaluate the competency of staff after they attend established training. Conducts assessments to determine staff comprehension and use of training concepts. Periodically evaluates training effectiveness and adjusts training programs when necessary to determine if overall training objectives are being met.
  • Participates in training seminars, conferences and committee meetings for professional development regarding financial aid requirements. Stays current on new laws, regulations and program guidelines to ensure compliance for all aid requirements. Supports initiatives both within the department and the organization that contributes to long-term operational excellence.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, compliance and training.
  • Familiarity of federal, state and institutional financial aid policies and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of regulations and guidelines governing Title IV aid programs.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong office software skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines. Strong desire to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
