Job description
General summary
Manages the University's data infrastructure in a lead capacity for the network support services team. Provides front-line, direct support and supervision in the design, acquisition, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of University's data network infrastructure.
Major duties
- Designs, builds, configures, tests, supports, and maintains local area network, wireless area network, and Wireless network equipment to support connectivity for data, voice over internet protocol telephones, and digital services for several University buildings.
- Monitors system performance to ensure minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoots data service issues to ensure reliable connectivity. Monitors ticket system to ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
- Produces and ensures system documentation complies with University standards and industry best practices.
- Maintains, locates, and documents infrastructure for the University.
- Supports faculty, staff, and students with their telephone and data services.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Experience with data infrastructure.
Physical requirements
Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
