General summary

Assists in planning and managing all athletics advancement focused initiatives designed to increase philanthropic support for funding priorities that are aligned to Athletics strategic objectives.

Major duties

  • Assists the athletics advancement program by creating, implementing, and evaluating a campaign plan that integrates annual, major, planned, and corporate & foundation giving to secure philanthropic and sponsorship support for athletics funding priorities.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of major gift, corporate & foundation, planned gift, and sponsorship prospects, ensures that timely steps are taken toward identification, solicitation and stewardship. Works independently and collaboratively on the development and implementation of a strategy for each prospect with other faculty, administrators, coaches and alumni volunteers.
  • Explores, solicits, and stewards community partnerships and programs.
  • Works to better develop relationships with scholarship programs to assist in the recruitment and retention of local students.
  • Prepares project plans containing key fundraising objectives and strategies and implements project-based fundraising initiatives.
  • Builds and sustains collaborative working relationships with the staff, team coaches, community advocates, and University fund raising colleagues.
  • Assists implementation of events, activities and stewardship associated with athletics advancement, and other engagement and cultivation events within university advancement.
  • Serve as the athletics advancement liaisons in collaboration with other university departments.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications or related field.
  • Demonstrated professionalism.
  • Capable of motivating donors.
  • Strong self-motivation.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
