General summary

Provides operational support and technical support for all WMUK stations. Responsible daily for setting up automation and operations logs using appropriate software and systems. Offers primary support for computer and Information Technology networking needs of station staff, hosts, and volunteers. Includes support for digital products. Produces programs, recordings and promotional announcements as directed. Assists with on air fundraising, studio cleaning and maintenance.

Major duties

  • Creates, maintains, and edits daily automation playlists using automation software.
  • Generates daily operations logs using traffic scheduling software.
  • Assists in ensuring all WMUK programming, required Federal Communications Commission and Corporation for Public Broadcasting spots, interstitials, and underwriting air as scheduled.
  • Produces other programming and recordings, as directed.
  • Provides primary computing and networking support for station as directed. This includes the National Public Radio Content Management System and other digital platforms. Collaborates with Chief Engineer to resolve software, computer and/or other hardware problems and malfunctions develop workarounds as needed.
  • Assists with on air fundraising, studio cleaning and maintenance.
  • Maintains station group music library, including physical or digital media.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience
  • Experience in audio programming.
  • Experience in Information Technology or networking support capacity.
  • Some on-air broadcast experience.
  • Experience in professional audio recording and production using current audition editing software and other multitrack editors.
  • Proven ability to work well as a contributing team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
