General summary

Directs all aspects of the Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program. Provides leadership, supervision, budgetary accountability, as well as reporting to grant funding agency.

Major duties

  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversees administration and implementation of all programs and services of the Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with grant funding agency and regulations; as well as adhering to University and department policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that all program goals and objectives, as outlined in the grant, are met.
  • Ensures financial and budgetary accountability of Kalamazoo Promise Scholarship Programs. Determine financial decisions that impact the program.
  • Facilitates and oversees collection of all program data. Responsible for completion and submission of all program evaluation and reports to funding source and other stakeholders.
  • Researches best practices and trends to enhance programs and services.
  • Presents information to other programs and departments on campus such as University Student Success Center directors and other institutions as requested.
  • Recruits, hires, trains and supervises students and staff

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with diverse college students.
  • Experience in program development and implementation.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and office software.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience with grant writing.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
