General summary

Manages the University's fixed asset system. Assists in other accounting related reconciliations as requested.

Major duties

  • Responsible for properly recording and monitoring the University's fixed assets. Prepares financial reports and analyses related to fixed assets. Controls the input and output control processes for the University's fixed asset system. Serves as the functional lead for fixed asset system upgrades.
  • Manages the capitalization of major construction projects and all projects completed through Facilities Management. Oversees the internal and external funding of capital projects.
  • Maintains the monthly review and tagging of fixed assets greater than $5,000 acquired by all University departments. Works collaboratively on technology purchases tracking of fixed assets purchased with grant funds.
  • Oversees the annual financial audit for fixed assets, capital construction projects, and debt service funds of the University. Prepares annual audited statements, monthly statements and analyses related to fixed assets. Protects and monitors the University's fixed assets.
  • Assists with the expenditure tracking of capital projects in the maintenance management system.
  • Responsible for miscellaneous accounting projects and reconciliations as assigned by the supervisor not related to fixed assets.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Government Accounting Standards Board accounting standards.
  • Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
