General summary
Oversees University residence halls and provides direction to staff. Oversees and executes conference operations.
Major duties
- Directs and manages all conference related activities for student housing and residence life. Collaborates with appropriate departments to plan conferences through coordinating staffing, catering, and other facilities. Manages marking and promoting for new conference client opportunities. Maintains current conference client contracts.
- Responsible for budgeting, billing and reporting financials related to conferences including revenue reports.
- Participates in strategic planning process for residence life. Assists with the implementation of department and University sponsored retention efforts and programs.
- Implements departmental community planning efforts through student development models and participates in the creation and implementation of professional development and training opportunities for staff.
- Assists in the administration of the student conduct process.
- Advises and refers staff and students for diverse issues ranging from academic support to mental health issues. Responds to emergency and crisis situations by serving in the on-call emergency duty rotation.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Full-time Residence Hall Director experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict management.
- Knowledge of or interest in working with conferences.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekend and holiday rotation.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
