General summary

Directs design, communication, and messaging for the University Advancement division in order to increase alumni engagement, donor participation, and stewardship efforts. Leads the creation and execution of marketing efforts.

Major duties

  • Oversees strategic communications within the division. Leads all communications to alumni and donors from all departments at the University. Collaborates with key stakeholders in marketing and communications, serving on their leadership team.
  • Oversees and monitors the scheduling of projects, and campaigns. Ensure timely completion of all creative assets while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Defines metrics and methodologies for measuring the effectiveness of communications initiatives. Assess the success of campaigns and strategies and makes data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with communications laws and regulations and website accessibility guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to various constituency groups. Communicate directly with leadership, other university staff, and external vendors.
  • Oversees budget management for the area.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises students and staff.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience with mass email and text messaging.
  • Experience with content management systems software.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with annual funds and fundraising appeal creation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing project budgets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication metrics

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
