General summary

Advances retention and graduation of demographically underrepresented students and first-generation students by providing co-curricular student support at the registered student organization (RSO) level as part of the navigator network.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with students and student organization support systems to provide stronger connection and utilization of campus resources that are available to registered student organizations.
  • Makes and maintains connections and relationships with students, providing support, resources, and connection to relevant University departments to provide useful information as appropriate. Provides outreach through various communication channels.
  • Provides support to help students navigate all aspects of entry, assimilation, retention, and graduation related to college life. Performs assessments and monitors progress. Promotes the personal and academic success and well-being of students with emphasis on historically marginalized communities, pell-eligible, affinity based RSOs, and first-generation students.
  • Tracks student data and communication among the navigation network. Manages data for program assessment and performance. Develops, prepares, and maintains student data. Evaluates and recommends improvements to program operations.
  • Assists student organizations and their leaders through intentional and specific means of programming, workshops, retreats, and other relationship building methods to assist in providing a stronger sense of community on campus.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Experience in human, community, student development or social work.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong student advocate.
  • Ability to collaborate with others.
  • Experience with event management.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience using and querying databases.
  • Office software skills, including word-processing, presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated interest, skills, and experience in working with diverse groups.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
