General summary

Provides consultation and advice to students on all aspects of career readiness with a focus on engaging with employers.

Major duties

  • Supports employer relations and job development for the assigned college. Coaches students towards self-sufficiency in campus and community environments related to employment. Guides and prepares students for internships and post-graduation careers. Connects students to resources on campus to aid their success.
  • Advises student regarding all aspects of engaging with employers including resume, cover letter and online profile reviews, informational interviews, externships, internships and full-time job applications and interviews.
  • Coordinates and supports students and employers with career events. Assists in supporting students and employers with events, jobs and career fairs.
  • Supports professional readiness series by meeting with students for individual completion plans and delivers instructional presentations regarding the requirements at the foundational and advanced level. Promotes success and well-being of students pertaining to career readiness through approved programming.
  • Implements and oversees the University’s career center and professional readiness activities through classroom presentations, developmental programs, and events. Prepares and maintains student attendance data for career center and professional readiness reports. Evaluates and recommends improvements to program operations.
  • Provides designated career readiness office hours and leads resume review sessions. Monitors and coordinates on-site office tours and supports orientations for incoming students.
  • Maintains working relationships with college departments, employers, and University offices to increase opportunities for student career readiness. Supports developing processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Some relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts including extended hours, weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
