General summary

Leads market research efforts. Provides insight into decision making and the prioritization process for initiatives that will ensure the University’s long-term success.

Major duties

  • Manages the market research team in the collection, analysis, and communication of market data relevant to initiatives to ensure long-term success. Provides input on the strategic planning process.
  • Identifies opportunities for new program offerings and new potential business models, in collaboration with departments, chairs, deans, and senior administrators. Recommends potential priorities that align with the University’s strategic goals.
  • Manages the market research team's efforts to implement customer intelligence gathering systems and oversees the collection, analysis, and communication of relevant data and insights to various stakeholder groups.
  • Establishes and optimizes methodology for validating and prototyping new program ideas and education models. Tests for desirability, business viability, and technical feasibility.
  • Lead efforts to ensure successful team operations through project management tools and techniques.
  • Oversees and manages the market research budget for personnel, third-party data sources, and external research partners.
  • Represents the market research team on University committees and workgroups.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Experience in market research strategy and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to working shared leadership and in a cross-functional team.
  • Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
