General summary

Leads market research efforts. Provides insight into decision making and the prioritization process for initiatives that will ensure the University’s long-term success.

Major duties

  • Manages and mentors a team of market research professionals to support strategic insights and organizational goals.
  • Oversees the collection, analysis, and communication of data and insights to support decision-making across stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify research needs and recommend market research initiatives.
  • Communicates market research findings and recommendations for developing program offerings and potential business models to various stakeholder groups.
  • Implements customer intelligence systems to gather insights and information on target markets, customer preferences, and industry trends.
  • Develops and executes market research plans that align with the University’s strategic goals.
  • Provides training and instruction on market research best practices.
  • Provides input into the strategic planning process to inform decision making.
  • Maintains currency with industry trends and advancements in market research methods and technologies.
  • Provides input into financial decisions related to Institutional Effectiveness resources to the institution's, division's, and office's, mission and goals.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Experience leading market research projects and managing a team of market research professionals.
  • Experience with data analysis software and tools.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of market research technologies and tools, such as data visualization software and online survey platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects. Strong analytical skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
