General summary

Provides leadership and direction for all club sports programs and the sports club council.

Major duties

  • Creates, develops, and initiates the planning and administration of sports clubs.
  • Offers purchase and budget recommendations regarding sports club programs. Monitors club budgets and allocations. Oversees and advises clubs on travel policies and procedures.
  • Advises the Sports Club Council and provides direction for all organizations registered with the council.
  • Develops, monitors and maintains risk management procedures, protocols and training to ensure safety of participants. Assists in scheduling and maintaining activity spaces utilized by sports clubs.
  • Markets, contracts and negotiates rental activities for sports clubs and outdoor facilities. Invoices and processes billings for rental activities.
  • Oversees assessment, program development and strategic planning for sports clubs.
  • Assists, maintains and provides direction for marketing campaigns, social media and websites for sports clubs and events.
  • Assists Esports program with administration of Esports clubs and camps.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Experience in administration of sport programs.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management and facility management.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.

Required other

  • First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including nights and weekends and holiday rotation on call duty.

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field preferred.

Desired experience

  • Experience with assessment and research methods.
  • Experience facilitating leadership training for students.

  • First Aid/CPR Instructor
  • SafeSport
  • Heads Up or equivalent concussion training

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
