General summary

Supports the academic mission of the college through leadership and strategic management of admission processes, course schedule building, student registration and services, program administration for the College of Education and Human Development.

Major duties

  • Manages the admission process for all graduate programs within the college. Serves as a primary liaison for students applying for graduate programs.
  • Directs work to department chairs and committee members, generates admission letters, advises students when applying and completes the admission process in customer relationship software.
  • Provides management of graduate admissions for the college through recommendation to chairs, administrators, and staff on best practices and processes for admission yield activity.
  • Meets with and provides training to application review committees. Collaborates with faculty to enhance our admission outcomes. Researches, recommends, and implements best practices to support admission yield activity.
  • Collaborates with the University admission office and college leadership to improve enrollment. Develops and suggests admission initiatives using best practices. Sets plans and priorities for admission activities and outcomes to increase yield.
  • Manages the schedule building for departments, both on and off campus. Monitors and directs class waitlists. Provides registration restriction removal for all students within the college.
  • Maintains working knowlege of data systems. Analyzes data regarding programs with decreasing and increasing applicants. Creates and reviews reports to forecast graduate application numbers for graduate enrollment modeling.
  • Provides leadership on schedule and registration support for the college through direction to chairs, administrators, and staff on best practices and processes.
  • Cultivates and maintains partnerships with other University colleges, departments and programs to develop and improve the admissions process for all University applicants.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Advanced office software skills, including word-processing, presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency with querying databases.
  • Experience in admission, advising, marketing or student affairs.
  • Experience working with diverse programs in higher education.
  • Experience with diverse student body.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
