General summary
Plans, allocates and manages budget and accounting functions for assigned units within a large and/or complex department, college, or division.
Major duties
- Plans, allocates and manages budget and accounting functions for assigned units. Ensures fiscal integrity of assigned budgets and procedures.
- Works with department/unit directors and others to assess budgetary needs and guide through budgetary process; may make budgetary recommendations.
- Develops and monitors budgets, projects expenditures, reconciles accounts and researches and resolves discrepancies.
- Researches and provides financial analysis on issues with financial implications; interprets, recommends and develops policies and procedures.
- Creates and maintains financial records, reports, and databases.
- Serves as principle fiscal liaison with University and external entities.
- May engage in project coordination/participation.
- May train and supervise staff.
- May administer billing.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Budget, institutional and fund management experience.
- Spreadsheet and office software proficiency.
- Accounting systems experience.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting/moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and/or any number of elements.
