General summary
Assists with the development and supervision of daily activities for adults with disabilities and direct support professionals. Leads activities, identifies procedures to facilitate activities, and ensures health and safety standards are met during activities.
Major duties
- Develops, adapts, and implements consumer activity programming including small and large group activities that match consumer objectives, needs, and interests. Creates daily schedule.
- Establishes relationships with local organizations and coordinates volunteer opportunities for consumers.
- Assists the treatment team in identifying goals and objectives related to activities.
- Assists the program coordinator and supervisor of programs in establishing processes and procedures to help staff engage consumers in activities.
- Ensures that health and safety standards are met per accreditation requirements and policies during activities.
- Assists in conducting interviews and surveys of consumers to determine satisfaction with activities provided, as well as to identify activity interests and preferences.
- Assists the supervisor of program in managing personal spending money. Ensures funds are available to participate in activities in the community. Assists in the reconciliation of funds.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises temporary and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Supervisor or lead experience.
- Experience developing and Implementing actives with consumers with different levels of functioning.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
